When to Go

The weather is great all year round. December to March are the islands busiest months, bringing the thickest crowds and higher prices. Being winter, the weather is also slightly cooler. The best value on airfares is offered from November to mid December and even better, April to May,
just try to avoid the Easter rush.

Climate:-
The islands are only 300km west of the Western Sahara desert, making the climate much warmer in winter than in Britain. To generalise the weather; in Southern Tenerife it can be very different from Northern Tenerife, this is created by the mountain range between the two. 
Southern Tenerife is much warmer and dryer than the North having a more desert appearance than the more lush tropical appearence of the North with many banana plantations. The South remaining relativly rain free, any rain that does fall is usually between October and February. 
Average daytime temperatures remain at 22°c for most of the year.

Offices: Winter: Monday to Friday 9a.m. to 6p.m. 
Summer: Monday to Friday 8a.m. to 3p.m. 
Banks are usually open on weekdays from 08.00 - 14.00, and some will also open on Saturday till mid-day. (No Sat opening Jun-Oct) 
Government: Monday to Friday 9a.m. to 2p.m. 
Retail: Monday to Friday 10a.m. to 6p.m., slightly shorter hours during the weekend summer.

Visa Information

Spain (of which the Canaries are a part) along with Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Portugal, forms part of the border-free travel zone known as the Schengen Area. US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Israeli citizens are among those who may enter the Canary Islands as tourists without a visa and stay up to 90 days. EU passport holders can come and go as they please.
